#MISA continues to set the trend amongst trade unions in South Africa and in the retail motor industry to be an advocate against any form of violence and harassment, not only in the workplace, but also in our communities.
The global theme for this year’s 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, which will run from 25 November to 10 December 2022, is “UNITE! Activism to end violence against women and girls”.
#MISA is taking this theme to a next level to empower all victims to speak up like
#MISA member Nicoleen Swart did.
This petite Personal Assistant from KwaZulu-Natal grabbed the attention of millions of people, locally and abroad, when the brutal and shocking attacks captured on CCTV went viral after her husband, Jaco Swart, pleaded guilty to charges of assault.
She has been speaking up about her ordeal since.
Nicoleen is a role model and an inspiration to millions of victims and is
#MISA’s Face Against
#GBV for 2022.
“I will never be silent again. I encourage all victims to speak up and take action before it is too late. The majority of victims are killed by someone they know,” says Swart.
This year
#MISA will host an educational series on
#GBV for the duration of 16 days.
