No-one said lockdown was going to be easy. Apart from the financial and work implications, there is also the personal and emotional turmoil of such a big change in our lives. We offer a few tips on how to deal with #Lockdown stress.
REFRAME YOUR BRAIN AND DO SOMETHING CONSTRUCTIVE
You are not ‘stuck at home’. You are playing an important part in helping to curb the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic.
If you are not able to work from home during this time, avoid merely slouching on the couch. Each day, identify something new and productive to tackle: Reorganise your living space, declutter a cupboard, create something you’ve always wanted to, learn a new skill, read a book, do an online course.
Approaching this time with a mindset of feeling trapped or stuck will only stress you out more. Use the time productively and you will cope a lot better with the lockdown.
STAY CLOSE TO YOUR NORMAL ROUTINE
Avoid the temptation to sleep late and lounge around in your PJs.
Wake up and go to bed around your usual time, eat meals, shower, and get dressed as you normally would.
START A NEW LOCKDOWN RITUAL
Perhaps you can start a daily journal to reflect on your thoughts and feelings. Or make a special cup of coffee each morning, phone or connect with someone special over FaceTime every morning. Find something special during this time that will help you look forward to each new day.
