SAF Employee Benefit

ONLY APPLICABLE TO ORDINARY MEMBERS

As from 1 January 2018, all employees at RMI establishments belonging to the Sick, Accident and Maternity Pay Fund (SAF) qualify for additional death and funeral benefits.

In order to qualify for these additional benefits, all employees belonging to SAF, who have not already done so, needs to complete the SAF Employee Benefit Fund Registration Form.

As from 1 January 2021 the funeral and death benefit for MISA members belonging to SAF increased from R87 000 to R90 000 (i.e. main member only benefit)

Please take note, non-MISA members (NUMSA and non-union) can also belong to SAF voluntarily and qualify for reduced death and funeral benefits.  In order to qualify for these benefits, all such employees belonging to the SAF Pay Fund also needs to also complete the SAF Employee Benefit Fund Registration Form.

Non-MISA members belonging to SAF at RMI establishments’ Death and Funeral Benefit for the main member is R30 000 as from 1 January 2020.

    Consent in terms of Act 4 of 2013 (Protection of Personal Information Act).
    I hereby consent to MISA processing my personal information (as disclosed in this form), which includes my union membership information (if applicable), for purposes of the Motor Industry Sick, Accident and Maternity Pay Fund Agreement as well as the Rules issued in terms hereof.
    PLEASE NOTE

    • It is your responsibility to notify MISA if and when any of your information changes regarding your membership. This includes your personal and company details.

    • An 8 week waiting period for eligibility to any benefits applies to all Fund members from date of receipt of the first contributions by the Fund.

    • Application to be made within 26 weeks from death of a member and/or his/her dependants.
